As one of the most influential broadcast journalists in Taiwan, Jennifer Shen has 30 years of experience in the field of TV and mass communication. She started her on-screen career as hosts for a number of children’s television programs. Her charming personality, quick wittedness, and professionalism earned her the lovely nickname “Big Sister Shen”. During this period, a total of six Golden Bell Awards under the “Best Host in a Variety Programme” and “Best Host in a Children’s Programme” were presented to her between 1983 to 1987.
In the late 1980s, Jennifer went to the US to pursue her graduate degree. After receiving her master’s degree at the University of Southern California, she switched gears and focused on the role of news anchor. Since then, Jennifer was awarded another 7 Golden Bell Awards, including three in the Best News Anchor category. Hoping to inspire and encourage other women to participate in journalism, she became an active member of the World Association of Women Journalists and Writers, and served as its World President from 2004 to 2006.
In 2007, Jennifer hosted her own weekly “Jennifer Shen’s Life Show”. As a talk show host, she interviewed a wide range of celebrities and individuals from entertainment artists to politicians. This popular show earned her yet another Gold Bell Award in 2008.
Starting in 2014, Jennifer has since returned to her news anchor role. She is currently the primary news anchor for GTV CH27 Nightly News at 6PM.
